Hello everyone! This is just a quick “check-in” to let you know what’s up in my life. Other than my forthcoming Soundscape Recording Expedition to the western states, the “big news” in my life is that I will be soon be moving out of my studio space of nearly fifteen years, here at the Finger Lakes Land Trust in Ithaca, New York. They are expanding their staff and need my space. I’ve known this was coming for a couple of years, so it is not a big surprise. But it does pose a problem …
Where on earth will I find a new home for my studio? Since I’ll be on the road for 5-6 months, from February into August, I have decided to put off the challenge of locating a new space, and simply throw everything into storage. Then, presumably, I’ll find an adequate solution when I get back home. So, if you live here in Ithaca and know of any possibilities where I might be able to move-in during August or September of this year, please let me know ASAP!
Until I return from my expedition, I’ll be doing business while on the road, using my laptop and headphones … a super-compact, mobile studio solution, quite suitable (I hope) for sharing recordings as I explore western wild areas!

Well, I guess that’s it for now. Life always presents challenges, and finding a new space really isn’t a big deal in the grand scheme of things. Right?
Hi Lang,
Gorgeous picture of the brook and the sounds make it even more so. When my husband stops to make a comment, trust me, it says a lot. Best of luck with the studio hunting!!!

I’m just opening my e-mail & this photo & sounds from the brook are a lovely gift for my birthday today 🙂
Thank you for checking in Lang, peace & good luck to you.
Happy birthday Rose Ann!
If you ever entertained the thought of leaving Ithaca, check out Jamestown, NY.
: >) Doubt that I’ll ever leave Ithaca, though you never know …
so beautiful sounds, the gurgling waters thank you so much I hope you find nice place for your studio.
Thank you Ahmed!
What a beautiful photo of a wintry sunrise on a foggy morn in upstate NY! And the gurgling waters are rinsing out the anxieties from my heart. Thank you. I’m sad to hear about the rug being pulled out from under your current studio space. For me, that would make leaving on a long expedition rather unsettling, as the returning would have several question marks attached. It would be great if you had the luck to find a place before you depart at the end of February. I am hoping that will happen. Can’t wait to hear the birds sing… Read more »
Susan … yes, I do hope I figure out where my studio will land, before I leave on my trip. But I’m quite willing to head out with that part unsettled, if I have to, for better or for worse.
Hi Lang,
I’ve been wondering if you have found a new space for your studio in Ithaca? Several weeks have passed since wrote this particular blog. (It is now Feb. 25th.) And also are you still planning to leave on your Soundscape Recording Expedition in early March? Are you excited?!?
